London Rock Band
our story
The Inflatables originally formed in London in the mid-1980’s and were known for their high-energy live shows, including opening for The Housemartins, that fused classic rock muscle with punk attitude and a pop-leaning jangle. Their music was recently described by Loud Enough Magazine as ‘catchier than a cold on a London bus’.
Reuniting in 2024, the band returned with renewed purpose and a raucous live response that quickly led to the creation of new material. Drawing on lived experience and a wide palette of influences — from Blondie, The Pretenders and Stevie Nicks to classic blues, rock and jazz — The Inflatables now deliver driving, emotionally direct songs with urgency, grit and melodic punch.
The band is currently focusing on writing and recording new material which will be released throughout 2026. The Inflatables will also be performing a limited number of live shows.
Violetta - Lead Vocals
Violetta came to prominence as the vocalist for The Inflatables after joining the band during its original London run in the mid-1980s. From the outset, her singing brought a strong melodic instinct and emotional clarity that helped define the band’s identity, balancing raw energy with direct, expressive delivery.
Away from The Inflatables, Violetta expanded her range through jazz-based projects and later as a backing vocalist with Frank The Cat, a ten-piece disco outfit, developing a flexible, assured performance style. Following the band’s reunion, she has returned as a central creative presence, reconnecting with the material and pushing the sound forward with renewed focus.
Dave Browett - Guitar
Dave brings a lifetime of musical evolution to The Inflatables. His classical brass foundation—childhood trumpet and cornet with Coventry Schools Orchestra—gave way to rock conversion through his brother's record collection of The Beatles, Cream, and Pink Floyd. A transformative Thin Lizzy encounter prompted the switch to electric guitar, with Santana's fluid phrasing shaping his signature melodic style.
Dave's lead guitar functions almost as the band's ‘second singer.’ His solos weave expressive counterpoint with the vocal line, carrying emotional narratives through searing bends and lyrical runs that demand attention.
Meirion Turner - Bass
Swansea boy, Meirion, began gigging at 15, cutting his teeth in covers bands across working men’s clubs in South Wales before forming a new wave band in the late seventies. A move to London followed, where he joined The Inflatables, contributing to the band’s early momentum before heading overseas to travel.
Returning to the UK in the late-eighties, Meirion became part of the Neil Rosser Band on the Welsh music scene, spending many years gigging and touring and achieving a #1 in the Welsh Music Charts. Meirion re-united with The Inflatables in 2024 — firmly focused on making a bit of history.
Sam Phillips - Drums
Sam started playing drums at 16, emerging from the energy and urgency of punk bands before broadening his style through rock ’n’ roll and blues in the covers circuit. In 1984, he became a founding member of The Inflatables, helping to define the band’s driving, punchy rhythmic backbone during their formative years.
With the band’s re-formation in 2024, Sam returned to the kit with renewed passion and intent. Influenced by drumming greats such as Billy Cobham, Simon Phillips (no relation), Chad Smith and Dave Weckl, his playing combines power, groove and musicality — anchoring The Inflatables’ sound.
